Laie, HI - Dr. Z was at it again. Another day, another roster switch. This time it had to do with the Small Forward position where Dr. Z moved Senior Chris Humphrey to the 2 and put in Junior Bernard Vera who got his first start ever.
"The switch was decided late last night," Dr. Z explained after the game, "We held a team meeting and decided that we needed to contain Carlos Rogers and that Vera was our best option to do so. We also talked about starting Junior Andy Erickson there. Instead we decided to have him back Vera up."
Junior Andy Erickson, who rumor has it is considering other options for next fall, played a fantastic game off the bench scoring 6 points and pulling down 9 rebounds.
"I finally got my chance to show I can play. I really haven't gotten that chance here yet and I hope with my performance I continue to get more playing time."
Vera also had a spectacular game scoring 18 points and also pulling down 9 boards.
So the question remains, What will Dr. Z do next?
"I'm really not sure, so far all of the roster moves have been positive for our team. Humphrey played within the offense this time at the 2 and (Roberto) Galindo enjoyed coming off the bench backing up both guard positions."
Galindo scored 13 points while playing at both the 1 and 2.
"I felt good at the 1, I haven't played anywhere but the 2 my entire time here so I wasn't sure how it would go. It felt good. In all honesty I don't mind coming off the bench and being that electricity off of it."
So what do we see in the future? At this point it could be anything. It wouldn't be surprising to see any number of line-ups the rest of the year.
"I might tailor each lineup to our respective opponent. Its worked so far and I don't see why It wouldn't continue to work."
