The End of a Dynasty?

Could it possibly be the end of the gnac as we know it? It is possible. Sources close to many of the Universities have let leak that their current coach is looking to move up to Division 1. The coaches that have been mentioned to be interested in taking a new position are, most notably Dr. Z of Byu, Hawaii who is given credit for starting and creating the massive d2 slugfest that is the gnac.

When asked about the possibility of leaving Dr. Z only stated, "I'm going to do whats best for my family." Z's family is still back in the midwest, where he left them believing that his trip to Hawaii wouldn't last long. "A lot of D1 Universities told me they had questions about my loyality. They didn't seem to care that I could take them to the Final Four, only that 'I might leave them after a few seasons,'" Z elaborated.

So because of that he has been stuck in Hawaii while his family is back in their Iowa home.

"I've talked with a few AD's who now feel that abandoning these guys I've had for 4 years is 'more loyal'. UNI and SIU both showed moderate interest and I'm hoping that when the jobs become available they will be interested in me."

Other coaches who have mentioned moving up are metsmax of Humboldt State, who is interested in moving to the opposite coast (and possibly somewhere with better golf weather?). uchuskies and andmore1230 have also mentioned leaving their respective universities.

"I'm getting out of here," said coach uchuskies the other day, "After that gut renching loss to Lane to end our season I think its time to move on."

Also amsiegel of Seattle and indiansrck21 of West New Mexico are possible canidates to move up, along with naufan.

Indiansrck was most recently quoted saying, "I might stay here at WNM if I dont like what I see in D." Although rumors have it he is a hot commodity.

It will be interesting to see what happens during the spring job period. And of course we at gnacnews will be here to get you caught up on all the latest!
