Another Day, Yet Another Line-Up?

Silver City, NM - He did it again. Dr. Z was once again fiddling with his line-up. This time He was trying to figure out a way to sweep the season series against West New Mexico, even though the conference championship was out of the question, that didn't stop the team from going into Silver City and taking home a huge win.

"We knew it was a must win game for us in our quest for a top seed," Dr. Z emphasized at the post game conference,"We're still on the outside looking in, but our numbers are solid and that #2 SOS is very attractive to the selection committee. Regardless of that we need to go in and win our Conference Tourney."

In Silver City the team started a very small line-up, with only 1 player over 6'5". Dr. Z did this knowing he was going up against a team that relies on 3 big men.

"Yeah we talked about that, but they press and run. We figured our best shot to win was to run our 4 guards at them in hopes that we could break their press," Team Captain Chris Humphrey added.

And it worked.

The 4 guard lineup played almost 70% of the game and shot an impressive 30/57 from the field, along with a more impressive 13-22 from deep. The team was lead by none other then Chris Humphrey who scored 23 points and collected 5 assists.

"We really felt that we came out and executed well," Roberto Galindo added. Galindo, who has been coming of the bench since Humphrey moved to the 2 guard, started at the 3 in Silver City and scored 16 points and pulled down 2 boards.

"We made the decision to play Galindo at the 3 because (Chris) Dial, their starting 3 is a very fast player and we felt that we could use Galindo's speed to contain him," Dr. Z clarified.

It worked. Dial scored only 1 point on 0-6 shooting. What is more surprising is that Galindo kept Dial off the boards.

"I was very impressed with his boxing out of Dial. He did a fantastic job."

Somehow Byu, Hawaii managed to win not only the game but also the rebounding margin, securing 13 more rebounds then West New Mexico.

"It was the biggest surprise of the game to me, I figured when I started Galindo at the 3 that we would lose the Rebounding Margin but hopefully win the game, instead we won both."

The Seastriders defense was phenominal, holding West New Mexico to a 36.5% on Field Goals.

Chris Byerly was the odd man out of the starting line-up. Yet he led the team in Rebounding with 10.

All in all it was an impressive team Performance for the Seastriders and as Dr. Z said best, "There's more of this to come."
